so i'm finally in miami. the drive down was mostly uneventful, fortunately; around georgia, i got somewhat delerious and started sending out "on the road" haiku text messages to random folk. my brother called and told me all about his adventures at the UN (yes, THE UN). i couldn't help but savor the irony of my younger brother speaking about the reconstruction of iraq at the UN, while i was quitting my job to drive down to miami. in any case, his text messages were classic:
Im sitting next to pakistan at the UN.
I cant believe im here. its intense.
I got a seat next to a fat guy. and i have no leg room cause the door is in the way.
ok, actually that last one was actually from our recent trip to toronto (we parted ways in detroit, where he left me boasting about the emergency row seat he finagled for his leg to boston) where i contracted sars and ate too much indian food. it was for a wedding, of course.
anyway, so i'm in miami now, and it is surreal. palm trees and fat frogs everywhere. always a limo and hummer within spitting distance. pretty people on every corner (they're not even hookers! (i don't think)) and white people working at the fast food joints.
we went to key west (my first time!) for the weekend to partake in womenfest 2003. key west is purty and fun. even the bums have more character than the average novurbian.
that's enough for now. it's starting to rain anyway (damn you fabian!). and i'm officially 25 today. isn't that sick? guess i should go be mature and stuff.
more details as events warrant.
